Fernando is a first-generation student, performer, and spoken-word artist. His research is centered in areas of performance, diversity, and equity working at the intersections of Latinx and Chicano and gang cultural performance, ritual, and spatial politics. Pulling from lived experiences and performance pedagogies, he seeks to abolish the fetishization of brown bodies in and out of the academic texts.
