Nate Cavalieri is an Oakland-based musician, dance accompanist, sound artist and writer. Originally from Northern Michigan, he studied at the Interlochen Arts Academy and was a member of the Traverse City Symphony. He studied contemporary music and percussion at Oberlin Conservatory, where he toured internationally with the Contemporary Music Ensemble. While an undergraduate student at Oberlin, he also began collaborating with choreographers and accompanied contemporary dance classes.
In addition to engagements as a studio musician in Northern California, Nate plays with the Dominican BFA program at Alonzo King Lines Ballet, UC Berkeley, and is a regular with the long-running Thursday Contact Improv jam at Berkeley's Finnish Hall. He loves few things in this world as much as the conversation between improvised movement and improvised music.
