Jamila Cobham (she/her) is a production manager and event producer with experience working in the United States and the Caribbean. Previously, she was the Production Manager for Cal Shakes (California Shakespeare Theater) where she managed numerous classics, as well as new works, that presented a diverse range of perspectives. She also worked with artistic leadership to proactively diversify the company's creative and production teams. Additionally, Jamila was a member of the organization's leadership team and contributed to the company's strategic planning initiatives and goals.
Jamila was also the Interim Production Manager for Magic Theatre; freelance Stage Manager for FieldTech Staging Solutions Inc; Event Planner for Barbados' National Cultural Foundation, and Interim Theater Manager and Stage Manager for The Errol Barrow Center for Creative Imagination (EBCCI), among others. Jamila is a proud member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology's (USITT) Gateway Mentorship Program and has been a professional mentor during their 2017, 2019, and 2020 conferences. She has also participated in various panels at conferences such as USITT and Theater Bay Area (TBA).
Jamila holds an MFA in Production Technology and Management from Carnegie Mellon University and a BA in Psychology from The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. Born and raised in Barbados, Jamila loves and promotes all things Bajan (Barbadian) and Caribbean. Outside of theater, Jamila is a strong supporter of social and economic justice.
