Bio:
Mohammad Yaghoubi is a multi-award-winning playwright, director, screenwriter, theatre instructor, producer, co-founder and artistic director of NOWADAYS THEATRE. His works have been performed around the world, including including Adana, Austin, Brussels, Calgary, Dallas, Montreal, Muelheim, Prague, San Francisco, Sidney, Stockholm, Strasbourg, Sulaymaniyah, Tehran, Toronto, Vancouver, and Washington. He staged the English premiere of his highly acclaimed play A Moment of Silence at SummerWorks Performance Festival in 2016. His recent work was the English premiere of his play The Only Possible Way with Iranian newcomers that was on stage at Canadian Stage, Upstairs Theatre in March 29 -31, 2019. It was produced with support of Toronto Arts Council and as part of 2018-19 Canadian Stage RBC Emerging Company in Residence. A few of his awards: The National Theatre Critics Society Award for Outstanding Play, Drought & Lies; First place winner of the Iranian Playwrights Society and third place winner of the New Play Contest in Toronto Fringe Festival 2016 for Outstanding Writing, A Moment of Silence, The National Theatre Critics Society Award for Outstanding Writing, Geraniums; The National Theatre Critics Society Award for Outstanding Direction, Dance of Torn Papers
