KATHERINE MATTSON

KATHERINE MATTSON, Production Manager & Lecturer
B.S. Interdepartmental Studies, School of Speech – Theater Design, Northwestern University. Mattson has worked for TDPS since 1999 where she teaches courses in Stage Management and Stagecraft. Mattson continues to work professionally as a Production Stage Manager, most recently for the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival (2008-present), for Contra Costa Ballet (1993 – present), and for Joe Goode Performance Group, including site-specific performances of Fall Within at the Ann Hamilton Tower on Oliver Ranch (2009), Traveling Light at the San Francisco Old Mint (2009 & 2010), and The Rambler at the Joyce Theatre, NY (2012). As Production Manager/Stage Manager she has toured nationally and internationally with numerous dance and theater companies including Burch Mann’s American Folk Ballet, Joe Goode Performance Group, Smuin Ballets/SF, Diablo Ballet, SF Butoh Festival, Gary Palmer Dance Company, Dance Brigade, Robert Henry Johnson Dance Company, Nancy Karp and Dancers, Contra Costa Ballet, and the Lullaby Project. Mattson has designed sets and properties for Pacific Dance Theater, Hartford Ballet, Joe Goode Performance Group, and Steppenwolf Theatre Company. Lighting design credits include: A Traveling Jewish Theatre, Burch Mann’s American Folk Ballet, and Steppenwolf Theatre Company.  She was Production Manager and occasional performer for San Francisco’s Make*A* Circus from 1991 to 1994, and Master Electrician and Assistant Lighting Designer for Steppenwolf Theatre Company from 1988 to 1990.  Mattson received UC Berkeley’s Chancellor’s Outstanding Staff Award in 2008, and the campus’ Unsung Heroes Award in 2006.
