ANGELA MARINO

 

ANGELA MARINO, Assistant Professor

Ph.D., New York University. Professor Marino focuses on the intersection of politics and performance in the Americas. Her research includes popular cultures, fiesta and carnival, U.S. Latina/o and Latin American plays, history and performance. Marino is co-editor of Festive Devils in the Americas in Richard Schechner’s Enactments Series (Seagull Press, forthcoming),  and has published articles in Latin American Theater Review (2008), Estreno (2008), and Dialectical Anthropology (2011). Marino is currently writing a book on populism and performance in Venezuela.

Affiliations: American Society for Theatre Research, Latin American Studies Association, and Modern Language Association.

Awards: UC Berkeley Chancellor’s Research Fellow, William J. Fulbright Fellowship, and the American Society for Theatre Research Helen Krich Chinoy Dissertation Research Fellowship.
