Marni Thomas Wood: Lecture & Staged Reading

Join the Director Emerita of both the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance and TDPS’ Dance Program as she discusses her life’s work and artistic endeavors. Learn about the intricacies of Martha Graham Dance technique as Ms. Wood shares her stories both as dancer and educator within this remarkable and historical form of dance.

The lecture will include a staged reading (with the permission of the Martha Graham Dance Company) of Martha Graham’s correspondence with composer Aaron Copland, revealing their process as they brought Appalachian Spring to the stage – a piece for which Copland would receive a Pulitzer Prize and Graham would dance the lead opposite Merce Cunningham.
